Abbotsford, BC – Famed Much Music TV personality Ed the Sock visited CIVL Sunday.

After sitting down for an on-camera interview as part of the Community Radio Fund of Canada funded RECORDING Project, The Sock made it clear that if you’re a local musician, then he’s “encouraging you to submit to the Fraser Valley… What the hell is it?” adding that these awards, taking place December 19th at The Stage in Mission, are “more practical than most Canadian awards.” See the whole hilarious video here.

While Ed also tentatively agreed to participate as a juror this year, pending his grueling upcoming tour schedule, returning judges confirmed at this time include the following:

CHUO 89.1 FM Ottawa Station Manager and Polaris Prize Finalist juror Erin Flynn, Polaris Prize nominee BA Johnston, CIVL Music Director Audrey MacDonald, and new CFUV 101.9 FM Victoria Station Manager Glen Swarnadhipath, and longtime CIVLian, former UFV Student Union Society President Jay Mitchell. New judges this year include Executive Director from The Reach Gallery Museum, Laura Schneider, and the great staff from Memento Mori Studios in Abbotsford! Judges will help select winners in each of 15 different FVMA categories.

CIVL is pleased to announce that local agency Mindful Marketing is offering a Digital Marketing consultation and promotional campaign valued at over $2,000, while CIVL will provide an additional $600 in advertising costs in one more FVMA prize up for grabs. 3 further artists will be selected to perform as feature musicians during Fraser Valley Art Battle events, hosted by the Abbotsford Arts Council. More prizes and details about the awards night will be released next week.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 PST on the evening of Friday, December 7th.
