Abnor: Small Group Performs So Many Jobs In Abbotsford

By on August 24, 2010

UPDATED 24/08/10 – COMMENTS RECEIVED – By Abnor. I’ve been scratching my head as I go through all the committees, commissions, authorities, boards, chambers and councils it takes to run a city like Abbotsford. Luckily we have a very small number of people who seem to do all the work!

Diane Delves

As usual, I’m not sure of all my facts but here is what I have been able to gather about a very small group of people who seem to do an awful lot of the jobs in Abbotsford that have to do with development .

.

Diane Delves, president, Quantum Properties – developer of the Mahogany Tower at Mill Lake is a member of the Abbotsford Economic Development Commision (AEDC) and the Abbotsford Airport Authority (AAA) with John Smith and George Peary.

Delves also serves on AEDC with Dave Holmberg, Bob Bos and Council representative John Smith.

Dave Holmberg, Chair of the Abbotsford International Airport Authority

Bob Bos, a member of AEDC, is also, president of the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association (ADBA).

.

Sid Bos, VP Construction Division of Quantum Properties, is a relative of Bob Bos (ADBA and AEDC). Councillor John Smith also, serves as Council representative to the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce (ACC) executive with Council representative Bill MacGregor

Councillor Bill MacGregor’s campaign mentor in the 2008 election campaign is listed as Dave Holmberg, who, presently, serves on the AAA with Dianne Delves, John Smith and Mayor George Peary.

(Dave Holmberg also serves with Dianne Delves and Councillor Smith on the AEDC)

Councillor Bill MacGregor

Bill MacGregor’s other campaign mentor was listed as John Smith.

Mayor Peary, Councillor John Smith and Councillor Bill MacGregor all voted on the Mahogany Tower Project.

Peary and Smith serve with the developer, Dianne Delves on the city’s two development committees

Quantum Properties,VP, Construction Division, Sid Bos’ relative, Bob Bos, president of the ADBA, serves on the ADBA with Bill MacGregor and also, serves on the AEDC with Dave Holmberg, who was MacGregor’s 2008 election campaign mentor and was just named chairperson of the Abbotsford AAA, of which Dianne Delves is a member, along with Mayor Peary.

.

Councillor John Smith

Peary, Smith and MacGregor are thus linked to Holmberg and Bos. Holmberg, Bos, Peary and Smith are all linked to developer, Dianne Delves via the AEDC.

Delves brought forward Quantum’s Mahogany Tower Development project proposal to council for a vote; a vote which brought accusations of conflict of interest against Mayor George Peary and Councillor John Smith each of whom took election contributions from Quantum.

.

Confused Yet?

Mayor George Peary

Editor’s Note: Abnor is too tired to go on but he would like to thank these six people for being prepared to take on so many jobs for the poor embattled taxpayers of Abbotsford.

.

We probably wouldn’t be in the shape we’re in without your ability to work so well together. Although, with number of people out of work in Abbotsford, maybe they should expand the gene pool?

He has plenty of time on his hands and he spends a great deal of his time wandering the streets of Abbotsford wondering about what he sees and hears. He’s a modern day hobo with a Blackberry.
