Music Podcast: Abbotsford’s YSP!WSD! On CBC’s ‘Q’ Friday

By Mike Archer. The band that started in an Abbotsford church basement, and has been traveling the world conquering fans from Australia to Germany ever since, was interviewed on CBC Radio’s influential ‘Q’ national radio show Friday.

The show, normally hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, was hosted by Brent Banbury Friday and featured the band live in studio. They were not only interviewed about their success but were also asked to perform on air.

You Say Party! We Say Die! Is an Abbotsford success story. The band followed a traditional path to fame by simply strutting their stuff on any stage that would have them; first in Vancouver and then on the road.

YSP!YSD! has developed a strong following in places like Australia, Texas and Germany. They played Abbotsford this fall and just completed their Canadian tour with their appearance, Friday night, at the legendary Phoenix nightclub in Toronto.

Their new album, XXXX, has received critical acclaim and the song touted as a possible single from the album, ‘Laura Palmer’s Prom’ is receiving more and more exposure through radio interviews and on YouTube.

The band migrated quickly from Abbotsford to the Vancouver club scene where they developed a loyal following before heading off around the world. They soon developed a a solid base of fans in Australia, German and Texas.

With two albums under their belt the band just released their third (XXXX) and with magazine articles and radio interviews are beginning to make some noise in big places.

There’s even talk that ‘Laura Palmer’s Prom’, from the new album may turn out to be a single that hits the charts.
