Question 1 A Open disclosure for referendum borrowing
I am not an incumbent so this question does not apply; however I am prepared to address Part B of this question.
Question 1 B
I cannot think of any argument against full disclosure. It is the taxpayers’ right to know what costs, including interest, will be incurred by any major undertaking.

1. Plan A: I felt that the City did a poor job of disclosing the actual costs of Plan A. In promotional material on City letterhead dated 2 months before the Referendum, the City stated the costs to be $85 million and it stated that even allowed for a 2% contingency fund for cost overruns. There was no mention of the land being an additional cost. Whether the city already owned the land or not, that is a cost that must be factored into the total cost of the project. Read the full story

As I was uneasy with the lack of details presented to the public regarding Plan A prior to the referendum I attended public meetings and requested written information from the City of Abbotsford.

Abbotsford city council was promoting at burden of taxpayer’s money should not have gone. It was pushed through the throat of about the tax payer’s expenses at 51%-49% should have waited until funds were available. Read the full story
